Funding boost for High Peak Women’s Aid charity

A High Peak charity which works towards ending domestic abuse against women and children has received a funding boost.

High Peak Women’s Aid, which is based in Glossop, has been awarded £500 from The Screwfix Foundation, a charity which supports projects to fix, repair, maintain and improve properties and facilities for those in need.

The money will be used towards refurbishing a kitchen at the centre.

Viv Whittaker, from High Peak Women’s Aid, said: “We are so grateful to The Screwfix Foundation for donating these essential funds to the charity.

“Last year we helped 225 women and 256 children and we have big plans for 2014. We’d like to thank everyone who was involved in the fundraising.”

And Paul Molloy, manger of the Screwfix store in Ashton-under-Lyne, added: “We’re really pleased that one of our local charities has been awarded funding by The Screwfix Foundation. Our colleagues from across the business have held a variety of fundraising events – from leg waxes and bike rides, to mountain climbs and fun days - so it’s fantastic to see the money we have raised being injected back into the community.”
