Free kids sports sessions in Whaley Bridge

High Peak children can enjoy free sport over the summer holidays, thanks to twice weekly sessions at a Whaley Bridge park.

Every Tuesday from 10am until 12noon and Thursday from 1pm until 3pm until August 28, there will be activities such as football, kwik cricket, rounders and hockey led by a sports coach at the football ground at Memorial Park.

The High Peak Borough Council initiative is open to kids aged five to 12 and sports are decided on the day.

It’s the third year the park, which has entrances on Goyt Road, Wheatsheaf Road and Reservoir Road, has offered multisport summer sessions, after it was awarded £478,000 from the Heritage Lottery Fund and the Big Lottery in October 2010.
