Flipping great Pancake Day

As Pancake Day came round again, people throughout the Dales were no-doubt busy mixing batter, dicing lemons, lavishing syrup and having a flipping great pancake feast.

But sadly, Winster’s annual Pancake Day Race – which has kept villagers entertained for many years – was cancelled due to the hazardous, icy conditions.

Nevertheless, Cromford residents got a slice of the action by holding their first-ever Pancake Day race on Saturday, February 9.

The children at Treetops Nursery, Matlock, also had a fantastic Pancake Day celebration.

Tots had a pancake tossing competition, seeing who could flip the most pancakes before they fell on the floor.

Rebecca Barker, senior nursery nurse, said: “Everyone had a fantastic time and thought it was so funny when the pancakes dropped on the floor.”
