Flames tear through derelict Duffield building

Firefighters have tackled a blaze in the roof of a derelict building in Duffield.

Crews from five different stations in Derbyshire were called to Hazelwood Road shortly after 7.30am on Monday.

A Derbyshire fire service spokesman said: "The fire was in the roof space of a two-storey derelict building and, at its height, three main jets and the aerial ladder platform had to be used to extinguish the flames.

"The incident was later scaled down and two of the four crews remain at the scene damping down.

"Police were also requested for traffic control."

There were no reports of any injuries and the cause of the blaze is not yet known.
