He said: “It’s a great pub, something of a local hotspot, and we have an excellent team that work together to make sure customers are enjoying an excellent experience.

“We want them to be enjoying our service and standards every time they walk through the door.

“The food hygiene award demonstrates how the team is working hard every day behind the scenes to ensure we produce food to the highest quality.”

The unannounced inspection checked how hygienically the food is prepared, cooked, cooled and then stored.

The cleanliness, layout and ventilation of the pub was also inspected, as well as how the pub manages and records what it does to ensure hygiene is of the highest standard.

The inspection came not long after Steve rejoined the team following a break from the pub.

Steve, who was born and raised just minutes from the pub, first joined Greene King and the Hungry Horse brand around seven years ago and went on to manage the Mundy Arms for around five years.

Since then he has taken on different roles in the hospitality industry.
