Jan McFarlane will take the title Bishop of Repton, a Suffragan Bishop, working alongside the Bishop of Derby in leading the Church of England across the whole of the county.

She said: “I am honoured and delighted to have been invited to become the sixth Bishop of Repton. I know Derbyshire a little having spent the first 18 years of my life in north Staffordshire and I’m looking forward to really getting to know this beautiful county and those who live and work and worship here.

“I’m passionate about the Christian faith and am energised by the challenges and opportunities we face as we learn how to adapt and grow in order to share that faith with a new generation.”
