Lee Narroway, who also uses the name Lee Hall, intends to hold the Chesterfield Comic-Con event at Queen's Park Sports Centre on November 18.

In 2010, a Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) panel found him guilty of misconduct and struck him off.

A spokesperson for Mr Narroway told the Derbyshire Times he still disputed the NMC's findings and that all relevant checks for the Chesterfield Comic-Con event, including a Disclosure and Barring Service check, had been done.

The NMC panel ruled Mr Narroway 'made sexual contact' with a suicidal 17-year-old girl, referred to as Patient A, while he was a nurse at the Westwood Centre at West Lane Hospital in Middlesbrough.

Mr Narroway, who did not attend the hearing, supplied his defence in written form.

A concerned resident, who did not want to be named, told the Derbyshire Times: "I feel people in Chesterfield should be given the information to make their own decision.

"This man has a dubious past and holding a comic convention which attracts children and vulnerable people is highly inappropriate."

In a public post on Facebook, Samuel Hague Illustration pointed to Mr Narroway's past and said: "Some of you may have noticed I'm no longer trading at Chesterfield Comic-Con.

"I'm not telling you not to go - I just want to make people aware of this, especially those with children."

According to the Chesterfield Comic-Con Facebook page, the event will feature guests including Paul Warren, of Star Wars fame, as well as competitions and traders selling things like comics, autographs and toys.

The page also states: "We will be raising funds for Ashgate Hospice on the day.”
