Garden waste bin collections to start up again in North East Derbyshire

Social distancing measures have been put in place for the operatives at the authority and staffing levels have increased sufficiently to be able to resume the recycling service.

Residents are reminded to present their green bins by no later than 6.30am on their day of collection as vehicle timings on the day may vary due to the increased volumes of waste being collected.

Residents who have bagged garden waste are asked not to present these with the green bins. Empty the contents into the bin once emptied and present on a future collection.

Only place green vegetative garden and food waste in green bins as bags, soil, rubble and grass sods are rejected at the composting centre.

Leader of the council, councillor Martin Thacker, MBE, said: “I would like to place on record my thanks to residents for their patience and understanding during these difficult circumstances.

“I am pleased to be able to resume the green bin collection service.

“The Covid-19 pandemic is difficult for us all but I would like to reassure residents we have been working incredibly hard behind the scenes in these challenging times to get the service back up and running, putting in place safe working measures to ensure operatives can work within government guidelines and social distancing to collect green waste.”
