Walker brought to safety by mountain rescue team after getting stuck in a bog while hiking Kinder Scout in the Peak District
A walker was brought to safety by a Peak District mountain rescue team after getting stuck in a bog while hiking Kinder Scout.
The Kinder Mountain Rescue Team were called out at 8.30pm on April 6 to assist a walker who had gotten stuck in a bog on Kinder Scout.
A team spokesperson said: “A lone walker was struggling to get down from Kinder Scout without boots. It transpired that she had earlier become stuck with both legs thigh-deep in a bog.
“Having struggled for some time to extract herself, she realised that sacrificing her boots was the only was to get free. She was experienced and well-equipped, and made an impressive effort to walk off the hill without assistance, getting as far was Swine’s Back.

“However, with temperatures dropping and a long way still to go, we persuaded her to wait where she was to be rescued.
“Having added some spare shoes to our usual assortment of rescue equipment, we helped her back down to Edale Cross and then back to her car in Edale.”
Kinder Mountain Rescue Team is staffed by volunteers, who give their time free of charge, and it is funded entirely by public donations. You can donate to support the team’s work here.
