Firefighters remain at scene of major blaze near Chesterfield – which saw crews deployed from across Derbyshire
Shortly before 8.00pm yesterday, Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service were called to reports of a large fire at Milton Place in Staveley.
A DFRS spokesperson said: “Firefighters from Staveley, Chesterfield and Nottingham Road, supported by an aerial ladder platform (ALP), remain on scene and are continuing to extinguish the fire.

Hide Ad“We are working with partner agencies, including the Environment Agency, on site – and are expected to remain there for the rest of the day.


“Fire crews were originally called to the fire at 19.56 hours yesterday (Sunday, September 22). Upon arrival, they discovered a pile of tyres well alight.
“Residents are advised to keep windows and doors closed in the local area whilst crews tackle the fire.”
At the height of the incident last night, eight fire engines were at the scene – along with two water carriers, a foam pod and the command support unit.
