Elderly man attacked by gang in his Matlock home

Between 9.30pm and 10pm on Thursday, four men knocked at a house in Starkholmes Road and forced their way in when the door was answered.

They assaulted the 70-year-old victim inside the property and then stole his bank card and cash before fleeing.

A Derbyshire Constabulary spokesman said: "Our detectives are appealing for information after this aggravated burglary.

"We want to hear from anyone who was in the area and might have seen suspicious activity or who might have overheard someone talking about it.

"The men had their faces covered.

"Anyone who saw the men running off or who might be able to help should call us on 101, quoting reference 17000219580."
