Drug driver gets support after collision

A driver who was under the influence of drugs has been given a 12 month community order with a drug rehabilitation programme.

Chesterfield magistrates’ court heard last Thursday how Guy Maxfield, 28, of Ringwood Avenue, Chesterfield, was spotted driving a Ford Focus without lights on along Wardgate Way before he collided with a parked vehicle on Brushfield Road.

Maxfield admitted driving on Wardgate Way on March 4 while unfit through drugs, without a licence or insurance, and he admitted having a knife in public and possessing 0.14grammes of amphetamine.

Magistrates sentenced Maxfield to a 12 month community order with a Drug Rehabilitation Requirement and a Rehabilitation Activity Requirement.

Maxfield was also banned from driving for 24 months.

He must pay an £85 victim surcharge and £85 costs.
