Distraction theft warning

Police are warning people to be aware after thieves operating in Peak District have been using distraction tactics to steal from people. Several incidents have been reported to police in recent weeks where crooks placed papers on top of the items, before walking away with them. Call police 101.

On July 31 at a cafe in Spring Gardens a mobile phone was stolen and on July 27 an iPod was taken.

In both cases, the offender asked the person a question and placed papers on top of the items, before walking away with them.

Anyone with information is asked to call the police on 101.
