Dinky Derbyshire dog Chip could be world’s smallest

Standing at just three inches high and weighing 900grams, the micro mutt lives with his owners Emma Robson and Mark Sawyer in Tibshelf.

Emma, of Haddon Street, who breeds miniature dachshunds as well as rescuing dogs, said 12-week-old Chip’s vibrant character had already made him a village celebrity.

She added: “Everywhere I go people stop me and ask about him and want to hold him.He’s a brilliant little character. He’s so laid back but loves to play and likes his tennis ball.”

Runt of the litter Chip, whose mum is a dachshund and dad a chihuahua, doesn’t let his diminutive size getting in the way when playing with the couple’s seven other pets - a rescue greyhound, collie, corgi and four dachshunds.

Emma added: “He gets on with the other dogs, he’s very brave. He loves his food too but despite his best efforts to eat everything he hasn’t grow.”

Emma believes Chip may be the smallest dog in Britain - possibly the word - but has yet to contact Guinness World Records about him.

According to the Guinness World Records the smallest dog living, in terms of height, is a female chihuahua called Miracle Milly, who measures 9.65 cm (3.8 in) tall.

Pocket-sized pets remain one of the most popular areas of the World Records database.

Guinness World Records currently has two main categories for petite pooches: Smallest dog living (height) and smallest dog living (length).

Previous title-holder Boo Boo, is a long-haired female chihuahua, who stands at just 10.16 cm (4 in).
