DERBYSHIRE: Stunning meteor spotted in night sky

The celestial delight was reported by many people on the social networking site Twitter.

User @CatMcCloud said: “Just seen a meteor burn out over us in Derbyshire. So cool, but slightly spooky. Hope it was an alien pod!”

Space scientist Dr Maggie Aderin-Pocock said the phenomenon was likely to have been debris from Halley’s Comet.
