Derbyshire pupils show support for road safety campaign

The banners, paid for by the North East Derbyshire Community Safety Partnership, are being displayed around Dronfield Junior School, on School Lane, and are to help remind youngsters about what they should do to cross the road safely and also to encourage parents to park responsibly.

Officers from the Dronfield Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team have been working with the school to help ease parking and road safety concerns in the local area, especially at a time when the school car park is closed due to building work.

Other work has included officers taking time to map out short walking routes to the school, patrols and talks with youngsters around road safety.

PCSO Leanne Dobinson of the Dronfield Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “Our thanks go to all the youngsters who put a lot of thought, time and effort into the designs for the banners, which we hope will make a difference to will act as a bright, friendly and noticeable reminder to everyone who passes or uses the school about road safety issues.”
