DERBYSHIRE: Priest in court over sex abuse cases
An 85-year-old Catholic priest has appeared before magistrates charged with sexually abusing boys in the East Midlands.
Francis Paul Cullen appeared at Derby Magistrates’ Court on Saturday where he faced 27 charges relating to three boys aged between eight and 14-years-old.
The offences were allegedly committed in Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire between 1956 and 1991.
Mr Cullen has been remanded in prison custody.
His next court appearance will be at Derby Crown Court on September 13.
He was extradited from Tenerife, where police said he had lived “for some time”.
