Derbyshire police rated ‘good’ by national report

Derbyshire Constabulary was inspected by Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary to establish how effective the force is at protecting from harm those who are vulnerable and supporting victims.

Every force in the county was inspected and Derbyshire was one of 12 forces to be rated as good.

Head of Public Protection, Detective Superintendent Andrew Stokes said: “Domestic abuse is a priority for Derbyshire Constabulary. Victims are among the most vulnerable in society with more than 10% of all Derbyshire crimes recorded as domestic abuse between March 2014 - March 2015.

“Derbyshire Constabulary, together with partner agencies, is committed to the protection of vulnerable people and has invested heavily in this vital area to ensure that victims are listened to and supported. We will continue to work hard to ensure our service continually improves.

“The report identifies a number of recommendations for Derbyshire which we are taking on board.”

Assistant Chief Constable Martyn Bates said: “I am pleased to see that the forces commitment to protecting the vulnerable and supporting victims has been recognised through a series of inspections that have rated the force as good and prepared.

“This recognises that Derbyshire Constabulary put the victims and vulnerable at the heart of everything we do.”
