DERBYSHIRE DALES: Police roll-out home security campaign

Police officers from Safer Neighbourhood teams in the Bakewell area have been visiting villages as part of Operation Illuminate.

The campaign, led by the police and Derbyshire Dales District Council, aims to help residents protect their property from burglary during the darker nights by offering reduced items such as shed alarms, door chimes, timer switches and outdoor light bulbs.

On Wednesday, February 6, officers visited Abney in the mobile police station and sold cut-price items to several residents.

They also offered crime prevention advice and signed villagers up to Derbyshire Alert, a free messaging service that keeps members of the public in the loop with police activity and appeals via email, text message or voicemail.

Discounted night safety products are also available to local residents at police stations across the Derbyshire Dales, and at Derbyshire Dales District Council offices.

The costs are: Shed alarms £5 (RRP £8), Indoor light bulbs £2 (RRP £4), Outdoor light bulbs £5 (RRP £8), Timer switches £1 (RRP £4), and Door chimes £1 (RRP £2).
