The owners of the highest pub in Derbyshire have taken the business on to a new level with help from the free Derbyshire Dales council advice service.

The popular restaurant at the Barrel Inn, in Bretton, has been expanded to cater for more customers in a restyled dining area which can now accommodate 100 people.

Following support from Derbyshire Dales Business Advice, pub landlords Phillip and Diane Cone, were able to secure LEADER grant funding for the project from the Rural Development Programme for England.

Phil said: “We are very grateful for the helpful advice given by Derbyshire Dales business advisor Heather Bradford on how to apply for grant funding to realise our ambitions for this lovely old building.

“We are absolutely delighted with the results and look forward to welcoming many more customers in 2018.”

The pub specialises in real ales and a wide menu choice, using many local suppliers, and the funding has allowed for the kitchen to be moved, expanded and upgraded to cater for the increase in capacity.

New washroom facilities have been been built too, in order to further improve the customer experience.
