DERBYSHIRE: Cyclist takes on 250mile charity ride
Carl Denton, 48, of Barlow, will be riding from Manchester to London in 24 hours between June 8 and 9.
His colleagues at Speedy Asset Services, in Sheffield, have also helped Carl set up a lottery bonus ball game which has so far raised £379 for the Alzheimer’s Society.

Hide AdCarl, who was very proud of his father Michael Denton, said: “Dad suffered with dementia and sadly passed away in July last year so this ride will be very poignant for me.
“He was a partner in business for 30 years with Roy Hooton at Matlock insurance Consultants and he was involved in running Calver Football Club’s junior sides with Michael Hoyes and Jack Howard.
“He lived in Ashford-in-the-Water for 25 years and became a very good didgeridoo player in his retirement and could often be seen busking in Portland Square, Bakewell, where he raised money for children’s cancer charities.”
Carl’s Alzheimer’s Society challenge is his second fundraising cycle ride after he raised £1,700 for Macmillan Cancer Support by cycling from London to Paris as a dedication to a Speedy Hire work colleague.
