DERBYSHIRE: British sculptors head up Chatsworth exhibition

More than 20 monumental sculptures were revealed today by the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire in a sneak preview of the latest Chatsworth exhibition.

The annual event, Beyond Limits has a reputation for showcasing the best sculptures in the world, and this year’s exhibition is no exception.

A specially commissioned work by Allen Jones is part of a strong British contingent including Marc Quinn, Thomas Heatherwick, Tony Cragg and Bill Woodrow.

Running for six weeks from September 9 to October 27, Beyond Limits also features work by Jaume Plensa and Mario Merz amongst other international reknowned sculptors.

The Duke of Devonshire said: “I’m particularly looking forward to seeing the new work by Allen Jones. We have long been admirers and collectors of Allen’s work and a few years ago we commissioned him to create what became his ‘Déjeuner sur l’Herbe’ sculpture, which is one of the garden’s highlights.”

Exhibits will be on display from 11am-6pm every day at no extra charge beyond normal garden admission.
