DARLEY DALE: MP opens new development at St. Elphin’s

The event was hosted by Nick Sanderson, chief executive of Audley Retirement, and Mr McLoughlin marked the occasion with a speech celebrating the investment that Audley has brought to the area.

Further VIP guests at the ceremony included the Derbyshire High Sheriff, Mr Derek Mapp, Mayor of Darley Dale, Ian Walker and Councillors Jacque Bevan, Garry Purdy and Lewis Rose.

The development at Robinson Court offers 20 stunning one and two bedroom apartments for older people, which will further add to the already thriving community at St. Elphin’s Park. The apartments have been built to complement the heritage charm of St. Elphin’s House, which is steeped in local history, having started life as a private residence before being home to a well-known and much loved girl’s boarding school.

The Audley Club which is situated in the restored former school house is home to the Orangery restaurant and elegant Bar/Bistro. A swimming pool and health and wellbeing centre is also available to those who live in the village, including Robinson Court, as well as members from the local community.

Nick Sanderson, CEO Audley Retirement, said the opening marked another “exciting stage” in the development of St. Elphin’s Park, adding that he was looking forward to “welcoming new residents” to enjoy their retirement “on their own terms and in a vibrant community”.

MP Patrick McLoughlin, who has represented the Dales in Parliament since 1986, added how “fantastic” it was to see the site restored “so sympathetically and with such care”.

He said: “We have a rapidly ageing population in the UK and it is alternative solutions such as the Audley proposition that are meeting the challenge of providing independent and quality later life housing. It is a pleasure to open the new development at Robinson Court.”
