Cruel thugs shoot falcon

Police are hunting cruel thugs who shot a rare wild bird with an airgun.

The male Peregrine Falcon found at Pleasley Nature reserve with what is believed to an air pellet wound to its wing.

The bird had to be put to sleep after being examined by a vet.

Also on the nature reserve Rabbits have been found dead with possible pellet wounds.

A spokesman for Derbyshire Constabulary said: “If anyone knows or sees anyone on or around the Nature reserve please call 101 to report it. Or if anyone knows who this might be please call 101 or Crimestoppers.

“These people must be stopped.”

Local officers are stepping up their patrols in the area.
