In a tweet, officers from Derbyshire Police mocked the motorist who was driving the vehicle with a reference to iconic British talent programme ‘Stars In Their Eyes’ and wrote: “Tonight Matthew, I’m going to be a poorly maintained Vauxhall Astra”.
The video of the Vauxhall driving around Creswell showed excessive smoke coming out of the vehicle which filled the road with fume clouds making it difficult for the Derbyshire Roads Policing Unit to see in front of them.

Hide AdOfficers handed the driver a ticket and a PG9 prohibition for faults with the vehicle’s exhaust.
An immediate roadside prohibition means it is likely the vehicle is immobilised and if driven the owner could be prosecuted, while a delayed prohibition means you can drive the car away and you have up to 10 days to fix the faults.
