WalkSafe app shows Chesterfield streets with violence and sex offences

Below is a list of 10 Chesterfield streets where violence and sexual offences have been reported.

The reports – taken from new safety app WalkSafe – were compiled by Derbyshire Times on Friday last week.

Data comes via a combination of the previous month’s crime figures from police and reports from app users.

Red spots on a map alert users to dangerous areas while the app also scans the road ahead – sending warnings of knife attacks or sexual assaults reported nearby.

WalkSafe downloads have rocketed in recent weeks – making it the most popular free download on Apple iOS.

A Derbyshire Police spokesman said: “The information collated on this app is taken from data released by the force from the previous month.

"Incidents reported to the force will be investigated and will also help inform the policing of the area.”
