Video and pictures show major road in Alfreton town centre closed off due to unsafe building

Police have closed a major road in Alfreton town centre until further notice due to an unsafe building.

The A61 at Chesterfield Road is likely to remain shut for the rest of today while a structural assessment of the building takes place, according to traffic alert app Inrix.

A Derbyshire Constabulary spokesperson said: “The road was closed after we received a report that a large amount of debris had fallen from the roof of a nearby building into a car park, very close to the road.
