Van driver caught doing 35mph on M1 in Derbyshire ‘had no windscreen wiper’

A motorist caught doing 35mph on the M1 in Derbyshire told police they were travelling at low speeds as it was raining and they had ‘no windscreen wiper’ on the driver’s side.

The van driver was spotted by Derbyshire Roads Police on the motorway on Tuesday (July 7).

The unit tweeted that the van driver was also found to have no driving licence or insurance after they were escorted from the M1 to the nearby A617 at Glapwell.

Seizing the vehicle, officers said the driver was ‘now doing 3.5mph on foot’.

“Reason for low speed on the motorway,” the tweet added. “It was raining and he had no wiper blade on the driver’s side. Wow.”
