A Shirebrook man accused of murdering local resident Andrew Jackson earlier this year is set to face a trial in July 2021.

Leon Smith appeared before Derby Crown Court on Wednesday, July 16, following an appearance before the city’s magistrates’ court the day before.

Smith, 27, of Alder Way Shirebrook, will next appear for a plea and trial preparation hearing on January 14, and a trial date has been set for July 26.

Mr Jackson, 55, was found dead on January 26, at an allotment, off Prospect Drive.
