The latest cases heard by Chesterfield and Derby magistrates

Jason Day, 47, of Netherthorpe, Staveley: Guilty of actual bodily harm. Jailed for 26 weeks as offence so serious – involving strangulation of victim while child was present. Given two-year restraining order. Made to pay court costs of £300 and £128 victim surcharge.

Rafal Nieziolek, 44, of no fixed abode: Guilty of assault by bodily harm and assault by beating. Sent to Nottingham Crown Court for sentence.

Jack Falconer, 24, of Hanbury Close, Holme Hall, Chesterfield: Guilty of possession of controlled drug mamba with intent to supply. Fined £108, made to pay £32 victim surcharge and £85 court costs.

Kris Wright, 41, of Albert Road, New Whittington, Chesterfield: Guilty of using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour. Discharged conditionally for 18 months and made to pay £21 victim surcharge.

Paul Ayres, 45, of James Street, Stonegravels, Chesterfield: Guilty of stealing a television worth £159 and other electrical items worth £321.23 belonging to Tesco. Jailed for 28 weeks as offence so serious – committed within days of a previous suspended sentence order.

Crystal Thomas, 40, of Scott Drive, Somercotes: Guilty of driving without insurance. Fined £180, made to pay £34 victim surcharge, £110 court costs and given six-month driving ban.

Jeremiah Breen, 26, of West Lea, Clowne: Guilty of failing to stop for police and driving without due care and attention. Fined £304, made to pay £35 victim surcharge, £110 court costs and licence endorsed with seven penalty points.

Colin Taylor, 49, of Overdale, Matlock: Guilty of assault by beating. Given one-year restraining order, fined £60, made to pay £34 victim surcharge and £100 court costs.

Paul Rule, 56, of Ashford in the Water, Bakewell: Guilty of driving above the speed limit. Licence endorsed with three penalty points. Fined £70, made to pay £30 victim surcharge.

Frederick Andric, 27, of The Meadows, Dove Holes: Guilty of using public electronic communications network for the purpose of causing annoyance, inconvenience or needless anxiety to another between 21/07/2020 and 12/11/2020. Jailed for six weeks as offence so serious – lengthy and sustained. Given two-year restraining order.

Eoghan Grant, 21, of Rotherham Road, Clowne: Guilty of driving above the speed limit – at a speed exceeding 30 miles per hour, namely 76mph. Fined £400, made to pay £40 victim surcharge and banned from driving for 56 days.

Alex Baker, 20, of Mary Street, Eckington: Guilty of driving without due care and attention, failing to stop after an accident and failing to report an accident. Made to pay £44 victim surcharge, £110 court costs and banned from driving for six months.

Marcin Brocki, 32, of Warren Terrace, Shirebrook: Guilty of driving without a licence or insurance. Fined £312, made to pay victim surcharge of £34 and £110 court costs. Banned from driving for six months.
