Jason Day, 47, of Netherthorpe, Staveley: Guilty of actual bodily harm. Jailed for 26 weeks as offence so serious – involving strangulation of victim while child was present. Given two-year restraining order. Made to pay court costs of £300 and £128 victim surcharge.
Rafal Nieziolek, 44, of no fixed abode: Guilty of assault by bodily harm and assault by beating. Sent to Nottingham Crown Court for sentence.

Paul Ayres, 45, of James Street, Stonegravels, Chesterfield: Guilty of stealing a television worth £159 and other electrical items worth £321.23 belonging to Tesco. Jailed for 28 weeks as offence so serious – committed within days of a previous suspended sentence order.
Crystal Thomas, 40, of Scott Drive, Somercotes: Guilty of driving without insurance. Fined £180, made to pay £34 victim surcharge, £110 court costs and given six-month driving ban.

Jailed for six weeks as offence so serious – lengthy and sustained. Given two-year restraining order.
