Police in Staveley stopped a Ford Fiesta after they suspected the driver had links to thefts from other vehicles in Derbyshire.

While officers were searching the driver’s vehicle which they said had ‘obviously been out thieving during the night’ they found a number of stolen sat navs, alcohol and car accessories, including a duck cuddly toy.

The driver was arrested while the victims were still assumed to be asleep.

Police stopped the Ford Fiesta in Staveley.

Derbyshire Roads Policing Unit uploaded pictures of the stolen goods they had recovered to Twitter – including a picture of the toy duck.

Social media user, Ken Quinn humorously replied: “Nice to see you weren't ducking your responsibilities.”

While another person chimed in: “A soft mallard, now that's a new one on me!!! What on earth were the crims planning on doing with that!”.
