Social media users mock driver towing Smart Car on M1 in Derbyshire after vehicles seized

The driver of a Ford Transit van who was towing a Smart Car had their vehicles seized on the M1 in Derbyshire this morning (April 25).

Officers from the Derbyshire Roads Policing Unit stopped a Ford Transit van which was also towing a green Smart Car on the motorway today.

The driver was found to have no car insurance or driving licence and the vehicles have been seized by police.

Social media users have mocked the motorist, after the Derbyshire Roads Policing Unit tweeted about the incident this morning, writing: “M1. Transit van towing a Smart Car as photographed. No insurance or driving licence. #Seized #OpDerbyshire”

One person replied to the post: “Smart move in transit.”

While another Twitter user joked that the Ford Transit driver was “gagging to be pulled over!” and someone else commented that the “driver obviously not so "smart" towing this car without having insurance or a licence on his own vehicle”.
