“My wife is an elderly lady with Alzheimer’s – she certainly doesn’t deserve this injustice.

“£100 is a lot of money to us.

“We were going to use it to buy food for the month.

“I’d like to thank the person who handed her bag into the customer service desk – but I hope whoever stole the money reads this story and feels ashamed about what they’ve done.

“I hope it pricks their conscience.”

He said that police were informed about the crime and were investigating.

He added: “I’d also like to use this opportunity to remind people to be careful when they’re out and about in the town centre so things like this don’t happen again.”
