Police search for thief after 70-year-old Chesterfield man is conned out of hundreds of pounds

A man knocked on the OAP’s door in The Crescent, Clay Cross, and said he worked for a housing provider.
They discussed some concerns the pensioner had and the caller left.

Hide AdThe following day – Sunday, September 27 – the man returned to say he had resolved the pensioner’s issues and asked for £420 in cash for a new door to be installed.
He followed his victim to a cash machine at a nearby Tesco and the OAP handed over his money.
He never returned to fit a new door and checks revealed he was not genuine.
Police officers have released images of a man they believe could hold vital information about the incident.
