Police are investigating the racial abuse of a Mansfield Town player on Twitter.

Yesterday (January 13) it was reported to police that a Mansfield Town player had received racist abuse on the social media site.

The matter was investigated by Nottinghamshire Police and the alleged Twitter account was found to belong to an individual in Derbyshire.

Derbyshire Police is looking into the matter in conjunction with Nottinghamshire Police.

As the investigation is ongoing no more information is available at the moment.
