Police launch appeal following Chesterfield burglary

Police are appealing for information after a garage was broken in to, and items stolen from a car, in Somersall, Chesterfield, during the early hours of yesterday morning (Tuesday 14 January).

The incidents both happened on Netherfield Road between 3am and 6am. Bank cards were taken from a car, and a black Orbea hybrid mountain bike was stolen from a garage.

Derbyshire Police also received a call about a man trying car door handles in the area around Firvale Road and Farndale Avenue in Walton at around 4.40pm.

Officers attended and searched around the area, but did not find anyone acting suspiciously.

Inquiries are being carried out and we would like to speak to anyone who may have any information, or with CCTV footage which could help.

Sgt. Darran Clarke of the local Safer Neighbourhood policing team said: “We would like to thank local residents for their support and cooperation, and would further encourage residents to remain alert, and to make sure that their vehicles, homes and garages are secure.

“Patrols are being carried out in the area, and we would urge people to continue to report anything they notice which may seem unusual or suspicious at the earliest opportunity.”
