Police dog helps catch man who spat at police after crashing car

A police dog helped find and capture a man who allegedly spat blood at an officer after fleeing from his car when it crashed into a telegraph pole.

Police dog Buzz from Derbyshire’s Police’s dog section “quickly” tracked down the suspect after he crashed his silver Ford Focus into a telegraph pole and ran off.

Officers said the suspect then ‘swung a punch’ at the dog handler before “spitting blood” at another officer.

A tweet from Erewash Response Unit said: “Driver decides to swing a punch at the dog handler before spitting blood at one of our officers.

“PD Buzz has none of it and takes him straight down!”

The man was arrested for “numerous offences”, including being unfit to drive through drink or drugs and driving while disqualified.

Derbyshire Police’s dog section tweeted: “Male arrested for numerous offences including disqual [sic] driving, unfit through drink or drugs, assault Police x 2 after spitting at local Erewash PC.”
