Police confirm investigation into Chesterfield pub brawl

An investigation has been launched after a ‘fight’ at a Chesterfield pub which reopened over the weekend.

Police were called to The Portland Hotel, West Bars at around 10.50pm on Saturday night (July 4) to reports of a group of people ‘fighting’.

Footage of the brawl later surfaced on social media and was shared by 1,200 people, with residents slamming the ‘yobbish’ behaviour.

A spokesperson for Derbyshire Police confirmed that ‘investigations were ongoing’ to try and identify those involved.

They added: “We would like to hear from anyone who saw the incident, or who may have information which could help our inquiries.”

Spokesperson for The Portland Eddie Gershon said the pub ‘utterly condemned’ any acts of violence and would work to assist police.
