Off-road bikers damage gate to speed across Derbyshire business estate and footpath – with reports of verbal abuse, noise and safety concerns

Police have issued an urgent warning to bikers riding illegally at a Derbyshire business park and a public footpath following reports of nuisance, speeding and verbal abuse.

Police carried out hotspot patrols at Harpur Hill Business Park in Buxton and the footpath leading to Hoffman Quarry on Saturday, April 11.

The patrols are a part of ongoing efforts to tackle issues with off‑road motorcyclists riding illegally in the area.

Riders were found transporting unregistered off‑road bikes in vans, parking on the business park, and riding down the public footpath, where motorcycles are not permitted.

Additionally, a kissing gate was removed to allow access, causing significant damage to the footpath.

Walkers and horse riders have reported verbal abuse, degraded access, and safety concerns due to speeding bikes.

Local residents reported persistent noise nuisance while farmers suffered damage to fences and gates.

Police have now confirmed more patrols would be carried out in the area and issued an urgent warning to the bike riders.

A spokesperson for the force said: “We are urging riders not to travel to this location.

"Officers will be conducting random patrols over the coming weeks.

"We will take robust action against anyone found riding anti-socially.”
