More flowers left at the scene of fatal Chesterfield crash after first bouquet ‘stolen’

More flowers have been left at the scene of a fatal crash in Chesterfield following after the first bouquet was reportedly stolen.

The woman, who was from Chesterfield but has yet to be named, collided with a black Fiat Panda at 2.25pm on Wednesday (6 January) on Derby Road at the pedestrian crossing close to the junction with Redvers Buller Road.

She was taken to the Northern General Hospital in Sheffield, but sadly died.

Flowers were first laid at the scene last night but according to reports on social media they were missing by Thursday morning. Further bouquets have since been left cable tied to a lamp post.

A 23-year-old man who was arrested at the scene has been released on bail pending further enquiries.

Emergency services flooded Derby Road following the incident and it remained closed for several hours while officers investigated the collision.
