More arrests as police crack down on production and supply of mamba in Derbyshire

Twelve people have been charged with drug offences in connection with an ongoing operation to tackle the production and supply of mamba in Derbyshire.

Thirteen people have been arrested as part of Operation Halifax this week, with 12 of those being charged with drugs offences.

A total of 22 people have now been charged, with a further five arrested.

Warrants in Gainsborough, Lincolnshire and Normanton, Derby have been executed this week.

A total of eleven men and one woman have been charged and a further man arrested.

Superintendent Tracy Harrison said: “This proactive approach highlights the good work taking place in Derby by our teams to tackle the issue of the supply and production of Class B drugs, namely synthetic cannabinoids, known as Mamba or Spice.

“We will continue to work with local businesses, residents and partner agencies to tackle this serious crime that affects our communities.”

The following are due to appear at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates Court today (Thursday, June 21):

Godfrey Kunakahasudyiwe (29) of St Thomas Road, Derby, and Joshua Banana (25) of Derby were charged with the importation of Synthetic Cannabinoids (Mamba) and the conspiracy to supply a Class B drug.

John Vita (31) of Derby was charged with conspiracy to supply a Class B drug (Mamba).

Chelsea Barnes (24) Paul Turner (52) were charged with the conspiracy to supply a Class B drug (Mamba).

A 28 year-old released was also arrested for supplying a Class B drug and was released under investigation.

The following were all charged with supplying a Class B drug (Mamba):

Jamil Clarke (23) of Grove Street, Derby

Mateusz Weslowoski (24) of Marlborough Road, Derby

Reece Lovell (23) of Derby

David Davies (35) of no fixed abode

Kevin Hargreaves (33) of no fixed abode pleaded guilty to supplying a Class B drug (Mamba) and was released on bail.

Marvin Williams (41) of Morley Street, Derby was charged with supplying a Class A drug and was released on bail.

Gareth Haywood (33) of no fixed abode was charged with possession with intent to supply a Class B drug and was remanded in custody.
