More than 200 cannabis plants found in Derbyshire raid

Police discovered more than 200 cannabis plants during a raid on a Derbyshire property.

Officers from Ilkeston Safer Neighbourhood Team found the grow in a property on Bath Street in the town on Wednesday, 18 March.

More than 200 cannabis plants were being grown in numerous rooms.

Two men, aged 22 and 27, of no fixed abode, were arrested at the scene. They have now been charged with being concerned in the production of Class B drugs.

The pair appeared at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates’ Court on Friday, March 20 where they were remanded in to custody to re-appear on Wednesday, 25 March.

Derbyshire Police would not confirm the value of the plants. The force said it is policy not to disclose the value of drug hauls.

Home Office data published earlier this year revealed cannabis was the most seized drug in the UK in the year to March 2019.
