Michael Jackson absconds from Derbyshire's open prison

A man called Michael Jackson is among three convicts to have absconded from Derbyshire’s open prison this week.

Jackson and Alex Rigby, both 38, absconded together from HMP Sudbury, near Ashbourne, at 8.30pm on Thursday.

Jackson was convicted for four years and four months at Preston Crown Court for breach of bail conditions relating to drugs and motoring offences in 2019.

Rigby was sentenced to seven years for robbery at Bolton Crown Court in 2018.

Jackson is described as white, 5ft 8in tall and of medium build, with brown hair and blue eyes.

He has tattoos on both arms, including a full sleeve on his left arm.

Rigby is white, 5ft 7in tall and of medium build, with brown hair and blue eyes.

Jackson has links to South Normanton and Blackburn, and Rigby has links to Bolton.

Meanwhile, Neil Bright, 34, absconded from the prison on Wednesday.

He was sentenced to life in prison at Stafford Crown Court in 2018 for a section 18 assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

Bright, who has links to Rugeley, is white, around 6ft 1in tall, of medium build, with short blond hair and blue eyes and short blonde hair.

He was wearing a high visibility jacket when he left the prison at around 5pm walking towards the A50.

Sudbury was originally constructed as a hospital for the United States Air Force for the D-Day landings.

In 1948, the old hospital site was adapted for use as a prison.
