Mercedes destroyed and two in hospital after ‘drink driver’ smashes into historic Chesterfield chapel

Two people are seriously injured in hospital after a suspected drink driver ploughed his Mercedes into a wall outside a historic Chesterfield building.

Derbyshire Roads Policing Unit tweeted about the incident, which happened last night (November 4) on Brewery Street.

The driver crashed into a wall outside the old Chapel causing damage, wrecking the Mercedes and leaving two passengers seriously injured in hospital.

"Plenty of booze, plenty of speed and absolutely no skill for this Mercedes driver,” officers tweeted.

Derbyshire Police said: “We were called to Brewery Street, Chesterfield, just after 9pm last night (November 4) following reports that a Mercedes had collided with a wall.

"Two passengers, one man and one woman, were taken to hospital with serious injuries

"The driver, a 39-year-old Chesterfield man, was taken to hospital for a check-up and later arrested on suspicion of drink-driving.”
