A prisoner who absconded from Derbyshire’s open prison has been found.

John Joseph Hickinbottom, 54, left HMP Sudbury on January 2 – sparking a public appeal for information by Derbyshire Constabulary.

A spokesperson for the force said on Wednesday: “He was found in the West Midlands area and is no longer being sought by officers.

Members of the public were warned not to approach Hickinbottom, who is serving an indeterminate sentence for public protection.
