Man in hospital 'with several broken bones' after being struck by car in Derbyshire hit-and-run

An investigation has been launched after a man was struck by a car in a hit-and-run in Derbyshire- leaving him with serious injuries.

The incident, which involved a silver Mitsubishi Outlander, happened at around 3pm on Thursday, July 16 on Whitwell high street, near to the Boot and Shoe public house.

A 38-year-old man suffered serious injuries, including several broken bones, and remains in hospital.

The vehicle was left behind following the collision, and the offenders fled the scene on foot, leaving items including a mountain bike, alloy wheels and a compressor inside the vehicle.

Officers are now appealing to the public for help to trace the offenders and the property left behind.
