Man arrested after incident in Chesterfield town centre

A man has been arrested after an incident in Chesterfield town centre.

The man was arrested on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly and also assaulting a police officer following the incident in the high street on Tuesday.

A Derbyshire Constabulary spokesperson urged people to ‘drink responsibly’.

Non-essential shops and outdoor hospitality finally reopened on Monday after months of closure to curb the spread of coronavirus.

According to police, Chesterfield has been ‘almost entirely trouble free’ following the relaxation of the rules.
