Man arrested after drugs swoop in Chesterfield

Derbyshire Police have arrested a man following a drugs raid at a house on Alma Road, North Wingfield today.

A 24-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class B drugs.

A police spokesman said “There was evidence that there had been a drugs grow as electricity had been diverted.

“There were no plants actually growing but there were were bags of cannabis in the building

Police seized a quantity of cash and paraphernalia and scales .

Sgt Mark Church of the Safer Neighbourhood team said: “This action was taken as a result of community intelligence.

“I would make the point that whenever we receive such information we will act upon it.”

The man was still in police custody this afternoon.
