Man allegedly claimed free Chesterfield hotel room reserved for NHS staff

A man has appeared in court accused of taking advantage of an offer of a free room for health staff at a Chesterfield hotel despite not working for the NHS.

Ben Quince checked into the Casa hotel, in Lockoford Lane, Chesterfield, at the end of March.

The 30-year-old stayed on a floor reserved for NHS workers for six nights after allegedly telling hotel staff he worked in the A&E department at Chesterfield Royal Hospital.

The hotel is offering complimentary lodgings for health workers during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Quince, of Burley Lane, Quarndon, has been charged with fraud by false representation.

He appeared at Derby magistrates’ court on Monday, April 6 and was bailed to appear in court again at a later date.
