‘Majority of people’ in Derbyshire abided by coronavirus rules over Easter weekend

Derbyshire police say they were ‘pleased’ to see the majority of people abided by the current Covid-19 rules over the Easter weekend.

Under Government regulations to prevent the spread of coronavirus, people should only go out when absolutely necessary for food, medicine, work or exercise, always try to stay two metres apart and not meet others outside their household, even friends and family.

A Derbyshire Constabulary spokesperson said: “We are pleased to report that the majority of people in Derbyshire chose to abide by the current guidance and adhered to social distancing this Easter.”

The Government has said that the nationwide lockdown will not be lifted this week and insisted that its plan to tackle the pandemic ‘is working’.

Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab is expected to announce on Thursday that the lockdown restrictions will remain in place for at least another three weeks.
